Liverpool Bucket List: The Final Instalment

One thing Liverpool is certainly not short of (other than friendliness) is great independents. Independent Liverpool is testament to this, a company which links up Liverpool's small businesses to allow everyone to explore what Liverpool is really about.

After finishing my exam on Friday, Emma and I embarked on a bit of a food crawl in a last ditch attempt to cross off some more places from our Liverpool bucket list before graduating.

First up, we headed down Bold Street to Mowgli's Street Food for lunch.

This new concept street food eatery is a world a way from any greasy curry house I have ever visited, serving proper authentic Indian food just like you get of the stalls in the vibrant country. Personally, the name is what originally intrigued me, Jungle Book being one of my favourite Disney films of all time, The decor is also refreshingly different, surrounding diners in a world mirroring an Indian market, with baskets and cages hanging from the ceiling.

We devoured the menu hungrily. I opted for the indian slaw and calcutta cabbage tangle, and Emma chose the house lamb curry and puri.

Our vibrant dishes arrived in silver tiffin boxes, creating a real feel of proper Indian cuisine. Both my dishes were divine, colourful and incredibly tasty. The freshness of the flavours and kick of spices were perfect!

After a short wander around town, we  headed to P&D's for dessert.

Like Mowgli's, P&D's transports you across the waters to Italy, giving Liverpudlians a taste of a real Italian deli. The deli is nestled away in Williamson Square, opposite the fountains.

Strolling in is like escaping to the European capital of food itself. We headed straight to the Gelato counter, and were greeted by the most colourful array of flavours you could wish for.

After a little deliberation, I chose to go traditional with one scoop strawberry and one scoop vanilla. Hands down, this is the best gelato I have had outside of Italy itself!

For our final stop, we headed to Hope Street and grabbed a table outside of Frederiks, and ordered a Liverpool G&T. The drink is named so as it uses gin from the Liverpool Gin company, topped with tonic, a slice of watermelon, orange and juniper berries. Basically perfection.

A perfect way to finish a foodie day!
