Essaouira // Moroccan Adventures

Following our successful first trip of the holiday to the Ouzoud Falls, Emma and I decided to spend a day exploring Essouria. For any Game of Thrones fans, this is the location used for 'Slavers Bay', which was a very exciting concept for the both of us, as HUGE GoT fans!

We set out in our mini bus, stopping off to take some snaps of goats in trees (?!).

We arrived in Essaouria, and were glad of the strong breeze which sweeps through the town.

We climbed inside the Skala du Port, which offers picturesque views of the harbour and a chance to see some real life cannons.

Emma and I spent the next few hours exploring the medina.
Essaouria's medina offers quite a different experience to Marrakech's. For one, it is much quieter and less busy, which is great if you need a bit of a break from the hectic surroundings of Marrakech. Secondly, it is much much cheaper. If you are planning to buy souvenirs from Morocco, I highly recommend a day trip to Essaouria to do so.

Before long it was time to head back to Marrakech and our hostel. We waved by to Essaouria, the closest we will ever get to being a real life Daenerys Targaryen!
