Kasbah Cafe Bazaar
Marrakech is currently sitting on the top spot of my wander lust list. Something about Morocco just seems to scream out to me. I want to experience the vibrant colours, beautiful architecture and, of course, try all of the cuisine.
I have mentioned before how much I love middle eastern cuisine. In a game of 'you can only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life', I always choose middle eastern. I love the vibrancy of the dishes and the care which is taken into flavouring them with spices.
Living in Liverpool means you can virtually do a world tour of cuisines, finishing off with a bowl of scouse, naturally. Kasbah is a bohemian cafe and bazaar, which prides itself on serving food a la Marrakech Souk style. Seeming as I am currently studying hard towards my finals, I cannot run off to Morocco at the drop of hat. One afternoon a few weeks back, I found myself with a few hours to spare before catching a train, and I decided to make the most of the bold street eatery and escape for a while.
The décor allows your mind to wander to somewhere exotic and warm. I especially love the Moroccan lamps and cushions. When I move into my own place, I am definitely going to have a middle eastern theme running through the living room.
I opted for the 3-cold tapas deal, a lunch time special which allows you to choose between an array of tasty small plates for fantastic value. The three dishes I chose were Moroccan olives, hummus and rich Moroccan taktouka, a combination of courgettes, peppers and aubergine in a tomato sauce. My personal favourite was the taktouka, which was wonderfully flavoursome.
I left feeling satisfied and boarded my train dreaming of Moroccan markets and hot, hazy days spent exploring markets and the desert.
