Glamping in Norfolk

Although jet setting to new countries is always exciting and something I love to do, sometimes there is nothing better than a trip exploring your own country. The UK has so much to offer, with such a diversity of places to visit, from city breaks to sea-side stays, you are never short of places to explore or return to.

With this in mind, I booked a mid-week stay to Norfolk for James' birthday.

James had mentioned once or twice how he fancied going camping again, so I met him in the middle and booked us in to a Shepherd's Hut for a spot of glamping at Woodstock Farm.

Sometime I Feel Like I'm in Barcelona

"Friends are like stars, you don't always have to see them, but you know they are always there"

With the steady descent into full blown adulthood in full swing, it is such a blessing to be able to meet up with old friends and reminisce about old times and share in new ones.

With that in mind, I joined a few of my old school friends for a mid-week trip to Barcelona.

Marrakech Part Three // Moroccan Adventure

Our time in Marrakech was quickly coming to an end. With just one full day left, we set out to explore a few of the tourist sites we hadn't yet seen.

First up was the Ben Youssef Madrasa, an ancient Islamic college which was founded in the 14th century, and re-opened as a historical site in 1982.

Essaouira // Moroccan Adventures

Following our successful first trip of the holiday to the Ouzoud Falls, Emma and I decided to spend a day exploring Essouria. For any Game of Thrones fans, this is the location used for 'Slavers Bay', which was a very exciting concept for the both of us, as HUGE GoT fans!

We set out in our mini bus, stopping off to take some snaps of goats in trees (?!).

Marrakech Part Two // Moroccan Adventure

Moroccan cuisine has long been a favourite of mine. I love tagines and couscous and all the middle eastern spices which are used.

Me and Emma decided to make Moroccan cuisine part of our trip by taking a cooking class. The class was booked through our hostel, Rainbow Marrakech, and took place at their sister Riad.

Ouzoud Waterfalls // Moroccan Adventures

On our second day in Morocco, Emma and I decided to take a day trip to Ouzoud falls. We had heard lots of good things about the waterfalls, and were eager to take a look at them ourselves.

Marrakech Part One // Moroccan Adventure

"A visit to Marrakech was a great shock to me. This city taught me colour"
- Yves Saint Laurent

Morocco has been top of my wander lust list for as long as I can remember. Something about the vibrant colours, bustling atmosphere and exotic food always appealed to me.

At the start of July, Emma and I boarded a flight heading to the Moroccan capital, Marrakech. We had been planning our trip away for months, so eagerly stepped off the plane into the blazing heat ready for an adventure.

Lake Bled // Slovenian Adventure

Lake Bled may be one of the most picturesque destinations I have ever visited. The cobbled streets, gothic castle and the beautiful scenery make this a must visit place for any tourists to Slovenia.

Ljubljana Part Two // Slovenian Adventure

Following our morning walking tour, Bex and I decided to make the steep descent to Ljubljana Castle.
The castle sits a top a hill over looking the city. It is really quite a magnificent sit to see such a structure perched atop a hill in the centre of a capital city. It is certainly a world away from the main high rise tourist attractions of London such as the shard!

Ljubljana Part One // Slovenian Adventure

Friendship is all about sharing. Bex and I both share a love for travelling. Bex spent her gap year travelling around Asia and finishing in New York, and I have spent the past two summers exploring Europe! We decided we fancied a little trip away, and after discussing a few destinations, we decided on Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia.

Day Trippin'

On a sunny Sunday (yesterday to be precise!) I boarded a train to make the short trip from Liverpool to Manchester. I made the trip to spend a day with one of my old school friends, Harley, who has recently made the move up North.

Czeching out Prague

After a largely poor night sleep due to sharing a dorm with a snorer, one of the major downsides of hostels, we headed out for another tour with the Sandeman's free tour company.
The best way to get around Prague is through buying a 24 hour ticket which allows you use of all trams and buses within the city once validated when you get on the first leg of your journey.

Dinner by the Vltava, Prague

After a long journey from Berlin to Prague, we were glad to surface from the train carriage in to the basking sun light of the Czech capital.

We hopped on to a tram towards our hostel, Plus Prague. We were very impressed with the hostel, the friendly staff and spacious rooms made us feel welcome, and after showering and a browse around we headed in to the city centre.

East Side Gallery

As mentioned in my previous post, we visited the East Side Gallery, an exhibition of some of the most famous street art work in Germany, and possibly the world.

I think the art speaks for itself, so this is a rather photo heavy post, with lots of snaps of mine and my travel buddies favourite pieces of street art.

Sandemans Walking Tour, Berlin

After a not brilliant night sleep, we awakened weary but excited to explore Berlin.
Last time when Molly and I visited Berlin we discovered the Sandemans New Europe walking tour company. We found the company brilliant, with friendly and informative guides who were animated and possibly more excited than the tourists about sharing the cities which they live in. The tours are in English, but are also offered in Spanish!

We headed for the U-bahn line to the Brandenburg Gate and waited for the tour to begin, quietly surveying the cloudy sky and praying the heavens didn't open. They did.

Kebap's in Beerlin

After a tough year at University, I, along with three of the greatest people, departed the UK for a fortnight of frolicking around Europe.

Molly, James, Huw and I embarked on an interrail adventure, starting in Berlin, Germany. We boarded our Ryan Air flight from Stanstead to Berlin, arriving in to a calm and crisp German evening.

Final destination, Roma!

When thou art at Rome, do as they do at Rome
- Miguel de Cervantes

Our european summer trip was almost over, and our last stop was none other than Rome. We enjoyed our last interrailing train journey discussing what we had planned, and munching on olive breadsticks!

Arriving at our last hostel/campsite, we soon searched down the pool and had a relaxing hour or two just watching the world go by.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venice

A realist, in Venice, would become a romantic by mere faithfulness to what he saw before him.
-Arthur Symons

(Before continuing this post, let me just apologise for the huge gap in time between this and my last post. I have had an action packed summer, which I will be spending the next few days twittering on about on my blog, so please enjoy my new posts and again sorry for the wait!)

After visiting the city of love, I thought depature would break my heart into a million pieces, leaving me weeping and mourning the loss of such a beautiful beautiful place.

Luckily enough, Molly and I's next stop was another of the most romantic and almost fantasy like city of Venice.
Venice is quite like no where else.

Our Parisian love deepens (Montmatre's fault)

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

With our previous day in Paris engulfed with trips to the most recognisable landmarks and areas of Paris, Molly and I decided to spend our second day exploring a more cultural part of Paris, the famous district of Montmatre.

This area of Paris is most renowned as the artists corner, many famous artists lived and painted in this neighbourhood, our favourite being Vincent Van Gogh!

We climbed the steps to reach the top and get a good view of La Basilique du Sacre Coeur. Turning around revealed the most beautiful view of Paris, so we sat and pondered along with the many, many tourists nearby.

Our love affair with Paris

'Paris is always a good idea'
- Audrey Hepburn

With our European adventure now well under way, Molly and I headed to the city of love as our next stop. We were greatly anticipating our trip here due to the extent at which people rave about the city. And we were not left disappointed.
